Dodecyl Dimethyl Benzyl Ammonium Chloride (1227): An Efficient Bactericide
1227 is a cationic surfactant with excellent water solubility, forming an alkaline solution. It exhibits stable properties, being resistant to light, heat, and pressure, and is non-volatile. Under normal storage conditions, 1227 remains relatively stable but may decompose under strong acids, strong oxidants, or high temperatures.
1227 demonstrates broad-spectrum and highly effective bactericidal and algaecidal properties, effectively controlling microbial and algal growth in water systems.
Particularly suitable for industrial circulating cooling water systems (e.g., petroleum, chemical, power, and textile industries), where it efficiently eliminates sulfate-reducing bacteria and other harmful microorganisms.
In addition to its bactericidal effects, 1227 exhibits excellent slime-stripping capabilities.
It effectively removes sludge and deposits, preventing biofilm buildup in pipelines and equipment, ensuring smooth system operation.
1227 possesses certain dispersing and penetrating abilities, allowing it to reach hidden bacterial colonies within water systems.
It also exhibits mild degreasing and deodorizing properties, improving water quality and odor.
1227 provides a degree of corrosion protection, extending the service life of equipment.
1227 is low-toxicity, non-cumulative, and highly water-soluble, unaffected by water hardness. It is widely used in circulating cooling water systems (e.g., petroleum, chemical, power, and textile industries) to control microbial and algal growth, with exceptional efficacy against sulfate-reducing bacteria.
As a non-oxidizing bactericide/algaecide: Dosage: 50–100 mg/L.
As a slime stripper: Dosage: 200–300 mg/L (an organic silicone defoamer may be added if necessary).
1227 is compatible with cationic and nonionic surfactants and can be used in combination with other bactericides (e.g., isothiazolinones, glutaraldehyde, methylene dithiocyanate).
However, it must not be mixed with anionic surfactants or chlorophenol-based agents, as this may reduce efficacy or generate hazardous byproducts.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and masks should be worn during handling to avoid skin/eye contact. In case of exposure, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention.
Store in a cool, ventilated indoor area away from direct sunlight and high temperatures.
Ensure containers remain sealed to prevent leaks and contamination.
