Organic sulfur is a mixture of dithiocarbamate derivatives and other organic compounds formulated to form stablecomplexes with heavy metal, so that heavy metals become less soluble and volatile, effective chelating heavy metals.

This process mainly relies on the following two key steps:

Chelation Mechanism:

The sulfur atoms in organic sulfur molecules possess lone pair electrons, which can selectively undergo complexation reactions with heavy metal ions in wastewater (such as Hg, Pb, Cd, Cu, Ni, etc.), forming structurally stable chelates.

Precipitation and Stabilization:

The resulting complexes are generally insoluble in water and naturally precipitate out from the water phase, thereby separating heavy metals from the liquid phase.

Owing to the high stability of such bonding, heavy metals are difficult to re-dissolve or volatilize even under acidic conditions or long-term storage, achieving the goal of long-term immobilization.
